John Glenn has two student athletes that are finalists for the Detroit Free Press Athlete of the Year. Last year, Mike Mars won Wrestler of the Year for JG and we now have two more athletes that are nominated as the best athlete in Michigan, in their respective sport. The Detroit Free Press Athlete of the Year ceremony will be held at the Fillmore in Detroit on June 6th and will begin at 6:00 PM.

Joe Moon IV – Basketball

Joe is a four-year starter, captain and is the all time points scorer in John Glenn history. Joe was a finalist for Mr. Basketball and earned KLAA All-Conference and All-State honors and now looks to become the Basketball Player of the Year.

James Flournoy – Track & Field

James has made a name for himself this year by dominating the MHSAA Division 1 Region 5 Track & Field Event last week. James won the 100m (10.79) , 200m (21.80) & 400m (49.18) events and had a top three time in division 1 in each of the three events. The Track & Field State Championships will take place on Saturday, June 1st @ East Kentwood High School.
