Multiple Teams · Rockets Start Fast But Lose To Chiefs

The John Glenn girls basketball team started fast against Canton but the first place Chiefs overcame an 11-6 first quarter deficit to defeat the Rockets 42-32.

Sierra Moseley sliced through the Canton defense and hit a trey to lead the early offensive charge.  Nadia Reed and Kimah Stribling also made buckets at John Glenn got out to a 9-2 lead.

DSC_0931The offense sputtered in the next two frames as John Glenn would tally just five baskets, including a three from Stribling.  At the end of the third quarter, the Chiefs had erased the deficit and lead 28-23.

The Rockets battled in the fourth quarter but did not find the offensive rhythm they had in the first quarter.  Canton got seven points from Brianna Finn in the final frame to keep the Rockets at bay.

Reed, Moseley, Stribling and Taylor Robinson each had seven points for the Rockets.  Carly Loving added the final four points.  Canton’s Erin Hult led all scorers with 12 pts.

The Rockets return to action on Friday when they host the Franklin Patriots.  The Junior Varsity game will begin at 5:30 pm with the varsity game to follow at approximately 7:00.
